Growing up outside a small town in rural Wisconsin, Joel learned from an early age the importance of hard work and the value of a dollar. He watched those close to him work tirelessly to strive for their goals. These early instilled values have driven him during his time as a wealth advisor. Joel’s experience over the past 18+ years has given him the ability to help others better understand and feel confident in their financial decisions. He is proud to have helped thousands of families through the challenges of preparing for retirement—together navigating any twists and bumps that may pop up along the way. With his partnership and clear planning process, his clients know that they are supported and never alone on this journey. Having come from a fast-paced corporate firm, he now looks forward to the opportunity to spend more time with his clients, developing lifelong, all-encompassing plans to best meet their ongoing needs.

Q & A

Overpaying on taxes—and it happens far too often.

Q & A

What’s a financial value you live by in your own life?

Emotions make investing logically very hard. Even advisors get help from other advisors.

Q & A

What’s a guilty pleasure you’ll happily admit to?

Coffee! This is the one item in my budget that I will not adjust.

Q & A

How do your personal experiences influence the way you guide clients?

After helping thousands of people retire, I’ve found that no advice I can give is meaningful to a client until I’ve listened to them first and truly understood their goals.

Q & A

What are the 3 words that people use to describe you?

Personable, Honest, Hardworking

Q & A

What’s one piece of timeless advice you often share with clients navigating wealth?

Two truths in life are death and taxes. —Benjamin Franklin. That doesn’t mean you don’t have control; we often just fail to take it.

Q & A

What motivates you in your work?

Every day, I have the opportunity to change someone’s life by helping them regain financial control.

Q & A

When you are not in the office, what are you most passionate about?

Family is everything to me. My wife, Tiffany, and I have two kids, Ben and Emma. We love spending our free time together—day trips to Stillwater to explore, board game nights in front of the fire when the weather is cooler, and weekend getaways to Duluth are our current favorites. I love to sneak in some golf whenever I can and enjoy it even more now that my kids are taking up the game! I’m not much of a cook—thankfully my wife is—and we enjoy relaxing and sharing good food with friends and family.
